How do I make my 1981 Toyota Celica GT manual faster?
I’m going to acquire from my dad a 1981 Toyota Celica GT stick shift, and I want to make faster but also gas effective but becoming gas effective is not my priority but a plus,I already bought a turbo air intake but that is not adequate.Oh yeah it has 22r engine on it with 400,000 miles but it nonetheless runs fantastic. Please help

Ok, we will ignore the age and miles, and wisecracks about the speed of free of charge fall and the nearest cliff, and some of the things to enhance points for not too significantly money is free flowing exhaust and intake.
Exhaust headers channel the gasses out in a smoother action than the regular iron manifold by means of a bigger pipe to a greater muffler with much less resistance. This improves horsepower and economic climate, for regular driving. If you stick your foot down, of course gas mileage will suffer. A large efficiency air filter will support a tiny bit as well.
There are also spacer plates to go between the carburetor and manifold to improve torque.
Of course there are much better camshafts and pistons, but, truly, it’s also old for that
Solution by Mad Jack
Let me get this straight. You want to take a 30 year old vehicle with over 400,000 miles on it, make it more rapidly, so you can beat the crap out of it. And you count on this souped up 30 year old auto with 400,000 miles on it to last you how lengthy? Yea, lots of luck with that.
But you want an answer and here’s what you would do.
The extremely 1st issues you would do before you commence generating any modifications.
Take away and overhaul the engine. Through the overhaul have the engine balanced and blueprinted. Install racing pistons. Have the heads ported and polished. Set up racing cams. Replace the intake manifold and carburetor with one thing with more CFM capacity, maybe a 350 CFM Holley. Set up headers. Set up an MSD ignition program.
Eliminate and overhaul the transmission. If you are planning serious efficiency upgrades you will need to have to set up stronger elements.
Replace the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and flywheel. Use components meant to manage your target horsepower. If you are arranging significant power stock elements won’t cut it.
Replace the universal joints. Overhaul the rear end. Replace all of the wheel bearings. Replace all of the suspension bushings. Replace the brakes.
Then basically discover a elements catalog that sells parts for your 1981 Toyota and open up your wallet. The far more funds you devote the faster it will be.

is it possible to change a toyota echo (car) from a manual to an automatic?
i was interested in buying a toyota echo but the one i like is a manual, which i cant drive. i was questioning if its achievable to adjust it to an automatic. and if so about how significantly would it price!
Solution by Xander
It is possible, but it’s certainly not really worth it. It would involve modifying the gearbox and flywheel to torque converter and all associated linkages, and I believe the Echo has a personal computer controlled box, which means a new engine handle unit will have to be wired in.
Solution by gimpalomg
Xander is 110% spot on correct. Appear for one with a slip and slid or understand to drive a stick. Learning to drive is stick is no massive trick. You require a coach for 15 minutes and an empty parking lot for an hour or so and you will be jamming gears with the best of them.
Answer by Thomas E
Yes – it is almost certainly NOT worth it. The only way to make it function for positive is to find an Echo car that has been rear ended and totaled. obtain the entire automobile if you can. Swap the Entire engine and transmission front sub-frame assy into your vehicle. Swap in the ECU personal computer as well for the automatic. you will need to have all the shift lever stuff and the shift cables to make it work too. Assuming it all performs ultimately – you then sell your manual engine tsm assy (or just the transmission and retain the engine as a spare. Sell for scrap or component out any usable elements from the donor vehicle and you are carried out!

can i make my automatic toyota t100 a manual one?
ive got a 97 toyota t100 sr5 4×4
i know by the sound of it the job is not going to be easy. the only issue that i have with my truck is that its a vehicle.your appropriate i did purchase it that way but i want a excellent project. i just need a little incite on what i require to start off organizing the components i want and the way to go about doing it… and hely or comments are welcome!
Solution by Deblin
If the T-100s came with a manual alternative, it will make your life a lot less complicated. I am unaware of if they did or not, but if they did then you would need to have to source said transmission, the driveshaft(it may be diverse), clutch pedal/pedal assembly if it is various amongst the car and manual versions you are going to also require the master cylinder and slave cylinder(assuming it is hydraulic), as effectively as a clutch itself, as properly as any random assorted bracketry.
If they did not come with a manual choice…..You’d have to discover a manual that will bolt up to your engine (3.4 liter?), and locate parts that will operate from other automobiles, or custom make them.
Greatest of luck!
